A devastating stampede at a children’s Christmas party in Ibadan, Oyo State, has left 35 children dead and several others injured. The tragic incident occurred at the Islamic High School in Bashorun during an event organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife.

Agidigbo FM, owned by Oriyomi Hamzat, had been actively promoting the party in the days leading up to the disaster. Hamzat, who was present at the event, was deeply affected by the sight of children collapsing during the stampede. Sources from the media house revealed that Mr. Hamzat was overwhelmed by the scene and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

The Oyo State government confirmed the deaths of 35 children, with six others in critical condition. The police also stated that they had arrested Queen Naomi Silekunola and seven others involved in organizing the ill-fated event.

According to insiders, Mr. Hamzat has not been able to recover from the shock of witnessing the tragedy. He is said to have collapsed after seeing the devastation unfold before him. The incident has left many in Ibadan and beyond in disbelief, calling attention to the need for better safety measures at public events.

The tragic event serves as a somber reminder of how quickly joy can turn into sorrow and the importance of proper planning and safety at gatherings, particularly those involving children.
