Recent explosions along the Gusau-Dansadau road in Zamfara State have caused confusion and concern among locals and authorities. While the police claim the attacks were carried out by Lakurawa terrorists, residents of Unguwar Yargaladima argue otherwise. They believe the explosions were orchestrated by a local bandit group led by Dogo Gide.
According to Mallam Ibrahim Usman, a local resident, the police are not telling the full story. He insists that the attacks were in retaliation for the recent killing of a bandit leader, Sani Black, by villagers.
“This attack has nothing to do with Lakurawa terrorists,” Usman stated. “It was planned by Dogo Gide’s gang, who have been targeting our community for a long time. They planted explosives on the road after learning that security forces were coming to protect us.”
Usman also explained the difference between the two groups. Lakurawa terrorists, described as foreigners from Niger Republic and Mali, are distinct from the local Fulani bandits operating in Zamfara. He said Dogo Gide’s group belongs to the late Buharin Daji’s network, a local bandit organization.
“These are not outsiders like the Lakurawa terrorists. These bandits are locals, and their leader, Dogo Gide, has been active in our area,” Usman clarified.
The explosions, which occurred on two separate days, claimed several lives and have left the community in fear. Residents are urging the authorities to address the issue accurately and provide better security to prevent further attacks.
The locals also demand transparency from the police to ensure that the truth about the attackers is revealed. As the situation unfolds, the people of Unguwar Yargaladima remain vigilant, hoping for lasting peace in their community.
