Breaking: Court Rejects Yahaya Bello’s Bail Application

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, lost his attempt to be granted bail by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court on Tuesday. The court ruled to strike out his bail application, stating it was filed before he had been taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Bello’s bail request was submitted on November 22, but the EFCC arrested him on November 26. He was then officially arraigned on November 27. The court found that the application was premature, as it had been filed before the arrest took place.

The ex-governor faces serious charges, including criminal breach of trust involving over N110 billion. Bello is charged alongside two others, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalam Hudu, as part of a 16-count case filed against them by the EFCC.

The case is still in progress, and the legal proceedings continue as the former governor faces these accusations.
