A disturbing incident in Mncedisi Village, Lower Gweru, has shocked the local community. A 23-year-old man violently attacked his mother on November 18, 2024, accusing her of hating his wife.

According to reports, the man returned home intoxicated and started arguing with his mother. The argument quickly escalated as he threatened to kill her and made chilling comments about decapitating her.

In a fit of rage, he used an iron rod to strike his mother, injuring her left eye, forehead, and other parts of her body. Despite her attempts to escape, he stripped her naked to prevent her from fleeing.

Her cries for help alerted neighbors, who stepped in to rescue her. She suffered severe injuries, including a deep forehead cut and swelling around her eye, requiring urgent medical care.

The man was arrested and charged with domestic violence. He appeared in the Gweru Magistrates Court on November 29, 2024, where the court found him guilty of the charges. He is currently in custody and will return to court on December 3, 2024, for sentencing.
