VP Shettima Returns from Côte d’Ivoire, Calls for Collaboration to Maximize Africa’s Resource Wealth

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has returned to the country after attending the first International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE Expo) in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Shettima arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night.

At the summit, Vice President Shettima stressed the need for improved governance, transparency, and collaboration among African leaders and industry stakeholders. He highlighted the importance of working together to manage the continent’s rich natural resources for sustainable development.

Shettima also reaffirmed Nigeria’s dedication to creating an inclusive extractive industry that prioritizes transparency, regional partnerships, and the development of local capacities. The summit, which focused on “Policies and Strategies for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries,” brought together leaders from across Africa to explore new ways to manage resources and address energy security challenges.

Before the event, Shettima was welcomed by top officials at the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport, including Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kacou Houadja Léon Adom, and the Minister of Mines, Oil, and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly. He was also greeted by Nigerian embassy staff, including Mrs. Itam A. Icha and Mr. Abubakar L. Alhaji.
