On Wednesday evening, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu arrived in Paris for a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and France. The visit marks an important step in enhancing diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
After landing at Orly Airport around 5:10 p.m., President Tinubu was warmly received with full military honours by the French Republican Guard. This ceremony set the tone for the official engagements that followed.
The visit will focus on key areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, and energy transition. During his stay, President Tinubu will hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss ways to improve cooperation in these sectors. A key topic will be boosting youth exchange programs and supporting skills development in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Additionally, both leaders will engage in strategic political and diplomatic discussions on issues like finance, solid minerals, trade, and investment. The visit will also involve the France-Nigeria Business Council, which will bring together private sector leaders to discuss opportunities for economic development.
Meanwhile, the First Ladies, Brigitte Macron and Oluremi Tinubu, will have discussions on empowering women and children in Nigeria through the Renewed Hope Initiative, an important program led by Nigeria’s First Lady.
Before concluding their visit, President Tinubu and his wife will attend a state dinner hosted by French President Macron, marking the end of a successful diplomatic mission.
This state visit is an important opportunity for both nations to build stronger ties and explore new avenues for cooperation that will benefit Nigeria and France alike.
