The House of Representatives has officially confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS). This decision was made after a report was presented by Babajimi Benson, the Chairman of the Committee on Defense.
Earlier this week, the Joint Committee on Army and Defense conducted a screening session for Oluyede, who was nominated by President Bola Tinubu as the Acting COAS. His appointment followed the illness and eventual passing of the former Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja.
With this confirmation, Oluyede is now set to lead the Nigerian Army, taking on an important role in the country’s defense and military leadership.
