Two officers of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who were kidnapped in Delta State have been safely released. The officers were abducted on Thursday night by gunmen, not far from the NDLEA’s office, located along the Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in Aniocha South Local Government Area.
The spokesperson for the NDLEA in Delta State, Mr. John Kennedy, confirmed their release on Monday. He shared that the officers were freed on Sunday night after continuous pressure from the NDLEA and other law enforcement agencies. Although Kennedy acknowledged the assistance of these agencies, he did not comment on whether a ransom was paid for their release.
Kennedy also clarified a detail about the incident. Contrary to earlier reports, the senior officer was not taken along with his orderly. Instead, they were kidnapped at different times and locations.
The safe return of the officers followed intense efforts by both the NDLEA and other sister security agencies, marking a positive outcome after a tense few days.
