Veteran musician Chief Mike Ejeagha has officially endorsed Nigeria’s first-ever DJ Awards, a groundbreaking event set to recognize the incredible contributions of DJs and other players in the entertainment industry.
The Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN) has spearheaded this initiative to honor those who have significantly shaped the Nigerian music scene. DJs, known for their role in promoting music and entertaining audiences, will finally receive well-deserved recognition. The awards ceremony will take place on December 7, 2024, at Chida International Hotel in Abuja.
To build support for the event, DJAN’s leadership recently visited Chief Mike Ejeagha at his home in Enugu. The music icon, known for his timeless hit “Gwogwogwo,” expressed gratitude for being remembered and celebrated. He acknowledged the organizers’ efforts and prayed for the success of the awards.
DJAN’s National President, Mr. Christian Edeh (DJ Perfect International), led the visit and highlighted how Chief Ejeagha’s music continues to inspire generations. He also announced that the son of another music legend, the late Oliver De Coque, will be present to accept an award on his father’s behalf.
The awards have gained the endorsement of prominent figures, including King Ateke Tom, the first Amanyanabo of the Okochiri Kingdom in Rivers State. King Tom encouraged Nigerians to support the creative industry, recognizing its vital role in creating jobs and boosting the economy.
Other key supporters include Mr. Humphrey Onyima, DJAN’s media consultant, and Hon. Ejiro Okpihwo, the CEO of the Most Beautiful Girl in Abuja project.
This first-of-its-kind award ceremony will celebrate the impact of DJs and other contributors to Nigeria’s music and entertainment industry. By honoring these talents, the event aims to highlight their role in shaping the country’s creative culture.
All eyes are now on December 7, 2024, when history will be made at the Nigeria DJ Awards in Abuja.
