Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has urged young people to pay attention to the wisdom of their elders, stating they have much to learn from those with more experience. She made this statement at an event focusing on the fight against corruption, where she also called on mothers to lead efforts to instill values of honesty and integrity in children.
Senator Tinubu stressed that corruption begins in the home and that mothers must take their nurturing roles seriously. She believes that shaping a corruption-free society starts with families.
Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), expressed the commission’s commitment to eradicating corruption. He explained that involving key groups like mothers, youth, and other stakeholders is essential for success.
The event included messages from representatives of youth groups, the Code of Conduct Bureau, JAMB, and security agencies. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, registrar of JAMB, highlighted the role of mothers in preventing corruption from taking root in future generations.
Additionally, the Commissioner for Youth in Kogi State urged students to move beyond protests and instead take active roles in shaping the nation’s future.
The discussions emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in fighting corruption. With youths listening to elders and families leading by example, Nigeria can build a society rooted in integrity and accountability.
