There’s been intense fighting in Sabon Birni, Sokoto, between Nigerian soldiers and bandits led by the notorious Bello Turji. The battle has escalated, making the area very dangerous.

According to public affairs expert Abdulsalam Suleiman Izuagbe, travel between Shinkafi and Sabon Birni has become risky, with the ongoing gunfire making the route unsafe for anyone. Izuagbe warned that this is no longer a situation where things are “business as usual.”

At the time of reporting, the Sokoto State Police had not responded to any calls or messages for comment. The conflict between the Nigerian Army and the bandits is still unfolding, and the area remains volatile.
