In a recent move to protect Nigerian consumers, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) carried out a significant raid in Nasarawa State. This operation targeted wine shops in Mararaba Market, New Nyanya, and Masaka areas, where counterfeit and adulterated wines were discovered. During the raid, NAFDAC seized fake wines and spirits worth over N41.2 million, highlighting their commitment to fighting the circulation of harmful products.
NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement team is currently investigating to identify the importers or manufacturers responsible for these counterfeit products. This is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to hold individuals accountable for selling dangerous goods to the public.
NAFDAC is calling on consumers to stay vigilant when buying food and drink items. They advise people to check for signs of authenticity and report any suspicious products to the nearest NAFDAC office. The agency emphasizes that by being cautious, consumers can help keep unsafe items out of circulation, making a safer marketplace for everyone.
NAFDAC’s dedication to consumer safety is clear in its actions, and this latest raid is an example of the steps they are taking to protect public health in Nigeria.
