Edo Queens Defeat CBE 3-0 in CAF Women’s Champions League Opening Match

Edo Queens, Nigeria’s representative in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, had an outstanding start to the competition. In their debut match, they secured a 3-0 win over Ethiopian side CBE on Sunday.

The game kicked off with Emem Essien scoring early in the 5th minute to give Edo Queens the lead. Folashade Ijamilusi doubled the advantage with a goal in the 54th minute, and with just 10 minutes left in the match, Chukwuamaka Osigwe sealed the win with a third goal.

This victory gave Edo Queens a strong start in their group. Their next match will be against another debutant, FC Masar from Egypt, on Wednesday, November 13. FC Masar made waves by defeating two-time Women’s Champions League winners, Mamelodi Sundowns, 1-0 in their opening game.

The 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League runs from November 9 to November 23, 2024. Group A teams include hosts AS FAR from Morocco, TP Mazembe from the DR Congo, UWC from South Africa, and Aigles de la Medina from Senegal.

Edo Queens are hoping to continue their impressive form as they aim to make a mark in this prestigious tournament.
