A police officer tragically lost his life on Thursday in a fatal accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Kara Bridge. The officer, who was riding a motorcycle, became trapped under one of the vehicles involved in a series of collisions.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the crash began when a truck collided with a moving bus. The impact caused the truck to swerve off the road and fall onto a second bus parked by the roadside.
The officer, who was with the Mopol 20 Division of the Nigeria Police Force, was traveling back to his office when he was caught in the incident. Sadly, he died instantly from the crash.
LASEMA’s Response Team used heavy-duty equipment to recover the officer’s body, which was later taken to the Ojodu Police Station for further processing.
The crash caused significant traffic delays as motorists were stranded for hours on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, highlighting the seriousness of the accident and the resulting gridlock.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers on the road and the sacrifices made by officers who risk their lives daily to maintain security.
