APC Wins All Chairmanship Seats in Cross River and Nasarawa States

In a significant win for the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has won all chairmanship seats in recent local government elections in Cross River and Nasarawa States.

The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) confirmed APC’s sweep of all 18 local government chairmanship positions and 196 councillorship seats across the state. Dr. Ekong Boco, CROSIEC’s chairman, announced these results at the commission’s office in Calabar on Sunday. The elections took place across Cross River’s 18 local government areas on Saturday. Dr. Boco urged the newly elected APC officials to lead with fairness and focus on improving their communities. He also presented certificates of return to the winning candidates.

In Nasarawa State, the APC achieved a similar victory. The Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) declared the APC winners in all 13 local government chairmanship positions. The announcement was made by NASIEC’s chairman, Mr. Ayuba Wandai, at their office in Lafia. Along with these chairmanship wins, APC won councillorship positions in 140 out of 147 wards. However, opposition parties claimed seven ward seats, with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) securing one seat in Akwanga and four in Nassarawa-Eggon, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) took two seats in Doma Local Government.

Nine political parties participated in the elections across Nasarawa State, but the APC emerged as the dominant party, claiming almost all seats in both states’ local government areas.
