In a recent Senate screening, Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Nigerian Senate, cautioned Senator Osita Ngwu for calling Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu “beautiful.” This incident occurred during the screening of newly appointed ministers, where Bianca was introduced by Ngwu.
While presenting her credentials for the position of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Ngwu began his introduction by praising Bianca’s beauty. Akpabio quickly interjected, reminding him, “Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful. She didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful.” This comment drew laughter from other senators present.
Following this exchange, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, spoke in support of Bianca, affirming her competence and ability to fulfill her duties effectively. He also commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating Bianca, highlighting that her appointment as a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) promotes unity within the government.
After the discussions, Bianca was invited to take a bow, marking the end of her screening process.
