As Ondo State prepares for its governorship election on November 16, 2024, the All Progressives Congress (APC) is confident in winning through a fair contest. APC’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, said that the party has no need to manipulate the election, as Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s accomplishments stand on their own to gain support.
Speaking in Akure at the launch of APC’s National Campaign Council, led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ganduje emphasized that Aiyedatiwa’s solid performance would be enough to win the hearts of Ondo voters. He dismissed claims from the opposition, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), which had accused the APC of planning to rig the election.
Ganduje reassured voters, saying, “The APC is here to win fairly. With Governor Aiyedatiwa’s progress and our commitment to democracy, we’re confident of victory without manipulation.”
Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed his optimism, highlighting the strides his administration has made over the past ten months. “Our focus has been on real projects that make life better for our people,” Aiyedatiwa said. “From house-to-house visits to personal talks, we are reaching out directly to the people of Ondo.”
Aiyedatiwa has centered his work around infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agricultural growth. Some achievements include:
Over 70km of rural roads built, along with 60km of city roads recently approve.
Salaries paid consistently and new jobs created in vital areas like health and education.
Grants given to over 500 young entrepreneurs, and financial assistance provided to local farmers.
Scholarships and bursaries awarded to Ondo-origin students.
With backing from leaders such as former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege and governors from Ogun and Ekiti states, the APC’s campaign team aims for a peaceful, transparent election that allows Ondo voters to have their voices heard.
This November, the APC is banking on Governor Aiyedatiwa’s track record and a strong campaign to secure another term in Ondo through the democratic support of the people.
