Asari Dokubo Declines Pipeline Contract from President Tinubu

Asari Dokubo, former leader of the Niger Delta militants, has disclosed that he turned down a pipeline contract offered to him by President Bola Tinubu. Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Dokubo shared that, while he didn’t take on the contract himself, he’s open to helping those who are involved in it.

During the interview, Dokubo explained that he was willing to assist the team managing the pipeline contract to ensure the project’s success. His comments highlighted his support for initiatives that could improve Nigeria’s pipeline security, an area crucial to the country’s oil production and economy.

Dokubo’s response reflects his commitment to contributing positively to the government’s efforts. By offering to assist with the contract, he showed a readiness to help secure Nigeria’s oil infrastructure without taking on a direct role.

This move is seen as part of his broader stance on supporting national interests and addressing issues in the Niger Delta region responsibly.

He said: “I’ve met President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. I met him both on and off camera. He asked me, ‘Are you interested in a pipeline?’ He will be listening now. I told him I’m not interested in a pipeline contract. He is alive. I told him I am not interested. But I can assist those who are doing the pipeline contract in any way I can for your government to succeed.

“But I’m not interested. So I never said that it was personal gain I was looking for. I clearly stated in all my broadcasts that my needs are very small. My needs are very small.”
