Governor Fubara Backs Police as New Commissioner Bala Takes Office in Rivers

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force to keep the state secure. He expressed this during a meeting with the newly appointed Police Commissioner for Rivers, CP Mustapha Bala, at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Governor Fubara highlighted the need for professionalism and cooperation between the state government and the police, acknowledging that they might have differences but are united by their shared goal of keeping the community safe. “We may have our differences, but we’re partners in security,” he noted.

He praised the peaceful environment in Rivers State, urging police officers to perform their duties with integrity and avoid negative influences. The governor stressed the importance of community policing, explaining that working closely with local communities could help reduce crime rates. “People know who’s behind the crime; let’s work with them to bring peace,” he added.

Governor Fubara assured CP Bala that his administration is ready to support a “fresh start” that prioritizes the well-being of Rivers State. “If Rivers is safe, everyone is safe,” he emphasized.

In response, CP Bala, now in his second week on the job, thanked the governor for his support and promised to work hand-in-hand with the Fubara administration to maintain peace in the state.
