Wike: Every Area of Abuja Will Be Developed

On October 24, 2024, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, made a strong promise to the residents of Abuja: no part of the city will be left undeveloped. He spoke during the launch of the construction for Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) in the Daki Biyu District. This new road will connect two key routes, Arterial Road N5 and Arterial Road N1, and is part of a series of road projects aimed at enhancing the city’s infrastructure.

Wike stated that the Collector Road CN8 is the fourth project of this type to be launched in the city center within a week. He expects the road to be completed by May 2025, which will coincide with President Tinubu’s second anniversary in office. Wike assured the contractor that funding would be provided on time to ensure the project’s completion.

Additionally, Wike announced plans to start four more road projects in the satellite towns of Abuja next Monday. He emphasized that developing road infrastructure outside the city is essential, demonstrating the government’s commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

For many years, Wike noted, residents outside the main city have not felt the impact of governance. He is determined to change that, stating that development should not be concentrated in wealthier areas but should also benefit rural communities.

Wike further stressed that all parts of Abuja should have similar road networks, making the city more accessible and recognizable as a significant urban center in Africa. His vision is to ensure that anyone visiting Abuja will see a well-connected and developed city.
