Nigerian billionaire and philanthropist Femi Otedola has made a generous donation of N3.7 billion to build a new facility for the Engineering Faculty at Augustine University in Ilara Epe. He announced this during the university’s sixth convocation ceremony, where he serves as Chancellor.
In his speech, Otedola expressed pride in the university’s progress and shared his vision for making it a leading center for engineering education. He mentioned that the contract for the new building, known as Phase 2, is nearly finished and should be completed within a year.
“I am happy to announce the donation for the Phase 2 building for the Engineering Faculty at a cost of N3.7 billion,” Otedola said. “With God’s help, I hope to return next year to open the new building.”
This donation follows the successful completion of Phase 1 of the Engineering Faculty, showing Otedola’s ongoing commitment to the university. He also pledged N140 million for furnishing the new building and an additional N110 million for street lights around the campus and a backup generator.
The expansion aims to support the growing number of students and provide modern facilities for engineering studies. Otedola emphasized the importance of developing both intellectual and moral excellence among students, aligning with the university’s mission to produce graduates who are skilled and dedicated to serving society.
This donation represents another key achievement in Otedola’s long-term support for education in Nigeria.
