The incident took place after Boniface had an outstanding performance in the Bundesliga match against Frankfurt on Saturday, where he scored the winning goal. Following the game, he was heading to the airport to pick up friends when the accident happened.
Fortunately, Bayer Leverkusen confirmed that Boniface only sustained minor injuries to his left hand. Despite this good news, it is still uncertain if he will be fit to play in the upcoming Champions League match against Brest later this week.
