Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has announced the party’s strong intention to dominate the Southwest region, starting with the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State on November 16.

During a recent meeting in Akure, Ondo’s capital, Ganduje was joined by key party leaders, including Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti Governor Abiodun Oyebanji. Together, they discussed strategies to secure victories in the region.

Ganduje emphasized that the APC is focused on expanding its influence in the Southwest ahead of the 2027 general elections. He specifically mentioned plans to gain support in Oyo and Osun states to bolster backing for President Bola Tinubu. He stated, “We must deliver 100 percent in favor of APC. Ondo State must be at the forefront; we will also capture Oyo and Osun, but I won’t reveal our strategies.”

The APC Chairman expressed his confidence in the current Governor of Ondo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, highlighting that national leaders fully support his candidacy. Ganduje appointed Sanwo-Olu as the Chairman of the National Campaign Council, indicating strong organizational support for Aiyedatiwa’s campaign.

Ganduje urged party members to focus on grassroots mobilization to ensure high voter turnout. “This election is a task that must be done,” he said, encouraging members to engage with the community and encourage participation. He expressed hope for receiving 90 percent of the votes in the upcoming election.

In a bid to foster unity, Ganduje also appealed to the party members who ran against Aiyedatiwa in the primary, asking them to put aside any differences. “There are no losers in this exercise; we must work together for the party’s victory,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of collaboration within the party.

The APC’s commitment to winning the Southwest region reflects its strategic approach as it prepares for future elections, with a clear focus on solidarity and effective campaigning.
