In a shocking incident that has left the Gombe community in disbelief, the police have arrested a 20-year-old man, Haruna Ibrahim, for the murder of 27-year-old Auwalu Maigadali. The tragic event occurred on October 2, 2024, in the Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
According to the police spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, Maigadali was attacked by a group of hoodlums who fatally injured him. Details surrounding the attack remain unclear, but it has raised concerns about safety in the area. Eyewitnesses reported hearing commotion, but many were hesitant to intervene during the violent confrontation.
Following the attack, the Gombe State Police Command launched an immediate investigation. They quickly identified Haruna Ibrahim as a suspect and apprehended him shortly after the incident. ASP Abdullahi confirmed the arrest and emphasized that the police are determined to bring all those responsible to justice. He stated, “We are actively pursuing other suspects who are still at large and will ensure they are held accountable for their actions.”

“On the 02/10/2024 at about 1612hrs a formal complaint was received by a unanimous caller from Kashere Akko LGA, Gombe that on the same date one Auwalu Maigadali ‘M’ aged of 27yrs of Kashere Akko LGA, Gombe was attacked and m8rdered by hoodlums at Tukulma Village of the same LGA,” the statement read.
“On receipt of the information the patrol team from Pindiga Division rushed to the scene and took the said victim to Tumu cottage hospital and also arrested the above mentioned suspect in connection to the crime and will soon be charged to court. Effort is ongoing to arrest the remaining fleeing suspects.
“Finally, we are appealing to the good people of the Gombe State to continue to partner with the Command by taking keen interest on issues of their personal security and neighborhood safety by providing useful information on the activities of any suspicious individuals or groups.
