Okpebholo as Winner of Edo Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Edo state governorship election held on Saturday, September 21.

The results were announced by INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof Faruk Kuta, who confirmed that Okpebholo secured 291,667 votes to beat his main competitors. Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came in second with 247,274 votes, while Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) placed third, garnering 22,763 votes.

Apart from the three leading candidates, fourteen others participated in the race but received significantly fewer votes.
