The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has closed down the Gomboru drug market in Maiduguri, Borno state.
In a recent statement, NAFDAC revealed that it discovered drugs damaged by the recent floods were being washed and sun-dried for resale at the market.
According to the agency, after the recent flooding that submerged the Gomboru drug market, NAFDAC’s Director-General ordered the immediate closure of the market. The goal is to carry out a shop-by-shop inspection to remove the damaged drugs and prevent further sales.
Borno state experienced severe flooding on September 10, which destroyed homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.
