Ray Nnaji, the former National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised concerns about the growing influence of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In an interview, Nnaji expressed that the PDP has tolerated Wike for too long, which has worsened the party’s internal crisis.

Wike recently challenged PDP governors and leaders to publicly call him out as a traitor, insisting he owes no one an apology for his actions. His bold statements have sparked tension within the party, especially after his controversial support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the past. Wike has hinted that nothing can stop him, further escalating the party’s internal issues.

Nnaji, however, believes that Wike’s growing power is a problem for the PDP. He argued that Wike cannot belong to both the PDP and the APC at the same time, and that the party should have taken steps to address the crisis earlier. According to Nnaji, the delay in replacing former PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, created a vacuum that worsened the situation.

He pointed out that Wike used his influence as a former Rivers State governor to help the APC, which later earned him a ministerial role. Wike’s attempts to bring PDP members into the APC caused conflicts, especially in Rivers State, where many party members refused to follow his lead.

Nnaji stressed that the PDP needs to act swiftly to fix these issues if it hopes to succeed in the 2027 elections. He suggested that Wike is prioritizing his personal interests over the party’s future and questioned whether the APC would be a stable home for him.
