Nollywood has lost another iconic figure, as veteran actor Emmanuel France has passed away. The news was confirmed by popular filmmaker Femi Ogedengbe through his Instagram page. In his post, Ogedengbe expressed deep sadness over the loss of France, recalling their work together on three movies filmed in Tanzania: She Is My Sister, The Director, and Cross My Sin.
Ogedengbe wrote: “Rest in peace to one of Nollywood’s legends, Uncle Emmanuel France. One of the actors I took to Tanzania in 2006. We shot three movies together: She Is My Sister, The Director, and Cross My Sin. R.I.P.”
At the time of this report, the cause of France’s death has not been made public.
France’s passing comes only a few hours after Nollywood actor Big Larry also died. Sadly, 2024 has seen the Nollywood film industry mourning the loss of many beloved actors, including Mr Ibu, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, Ganiyu Oyeyemi (also known as Ogunjimi), and Amaechi Muonagor.
This year has been a particularly difficult one for the Nollywood community, as they continue to grieve these significant losses. Fans and colleagues alike have taken to social media to express their condolences and share fond memories of the talented actors who have left a lasting legacy in the Nigerian film industry.
