A heartbreaking incident occurred in the Bronx, New York, on Thursday, September 12, when a 10-year-old girl tragically fell from the window of her family’s apartment. The fall happened after she reportedly had an argument with her mother about using an iPad.
The child was found in the courtyard of their apartment building by her mother, who had just returned from a doctor’s appointment. The mother rushed her daughter to St. Barnabas Hospital, but sadly, the girl was pronounced dead upon arrival. Doctors confirmed that her injuries were consistent with falling from a high place.
Neighbors in the building were shocked by the tragedy. One neighbor mentioned that her son noticed something was wrong and called for help. “I called 911, but I didn’t realize it was my neighbor’s daughter until later,” she said.
Another neighbor expressed how deeply saddened the community is by the loss. “It’s incredibly sad. A young life was lost, and she will be missed by her family and friends,” she shared.
A small memorial has been set up outside the apartment building with pink flowers, purple balloons, and candles, as a tribute to the young girl.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) is continuing to investigate the case. They are reviewing surveillance footage to determine if the child was being supervised at the time of the fall. So far, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed. The city medical examiner will confirm the official cause of death.
Phipps Houses Incorporated, the property management company, said it was deeply saddened by the incident and is working closely with the NYPD in their investigation.
