In a significant operation on September 12, 2024, the Nigerian Army rescued 13 students who had been kidnapped by terrorists in Kaduna State. The rescued group includes six male and seven female students.
The rescue mission unfolded in Chigbolu village, located in Kachia Local Government Area. According to the army’s report, the troops engaged in a fierce firefight with the terrorists, who eventually fled, leaving behind their captives. During the operation, the army also seized an AK-47 rifle, 87 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, a locally made rifle, and other items.
Along with freeing the students, the troops recovered valuable items including five solar panels, five mobile phones, dry food rations, and various clothing items. The rescued students were promptly taken to the 1 Division Medical Services and Hospital for medical treatment.
In a separate but related action, the army captured two men involved in supplying logistics to the terrorists. The suspects, identified as Mallam Usman Waikili and Salisu Idris, were found with N1,306,700 in cash, mobile phones, SIM cards, and several other items.
Furthermore, the army conducted another raid on a terrorist hideout, where they killed three terrorists and arrested three more. They also recovered N4 million and additional dangerous weapons during this operation.
These successful missions highlight the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of the community.
