Eight Suspects Apprehended for Kidnapping, Cultism, and Armed Robbery in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested eight individuals for their involvement in crimes like kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery. The arrests were announced by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Friday, September 13, 2024. During the arrests, the police recovered a long gun, a locally made Beretta pistol, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle.

The police, using technology to aid their investigation, apprehended two suspects in Nnewi. These suspects were linked to a kidnapping case reported in August. They have admitted to participating in the crime and are now helping the authorities with further information.

In a separate operation, the Police-led Joint Security Operatives arrested five more suspects in Umunze. The suspects, aged between 20 and 26, were found with locally made guns and tools used to steal electricity cables. They also confessed to their crimes and are assisting the police in tracking down other gang members and buyers of the stolen items.

Another suspect, a 25-year-old man, was caught during a police patrol along Nise/Agulu road. He was found with a locally made pistol and ammunition and has admitted to being a member of the Black Axe cult. The police have also seized his vehicle, a black Lexus.

All eight suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged in court once the investigation is completed. The police are continuing their efforts to track down more members of these criminal groups.
