In a recent development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, has suspended Dino Melaye. This decision came after the former Kogi West senator refused to respond to a summon from the Ward executive committee.
The PDP Ward exco explained that Melaye’s suspension was due to allegations of misconduct and engaging in actions that went against the interests of the party. A disciplinary committee had been set up to investigate the matter, and after reviewing the findings, the Ward executive committee decided to take action.
During a meeting held at Aiyetoro/Luagba Ward 1, the committee officially passed the resolution to suspend Melaye. The suspension was formally signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Ward Secretary Yodson Dayo.
In the statement released by the exco, it was mentioned that Dino Melaye’s behavior had caused embarrassment to the party, leading to a decision that his membership was no longer acceptable.
As a result, the Ward executive committee announced that Melaye’s suspension was effective immediately. The decision is in line with Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which grants the Ward the authority to take disciplinary action against any member who violates party rules.
Melaye’s suspension has sparked conversations within political circles, particularly in Kogi State, as the former senator has been a notable figure in the PDP.
