Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has spoken out about rumors suggesting she was pregnant with American rapper Future’s child. The rumors started after Tems attended Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2024 show at London Fashion Week in December last year. She wore a fitted black dress paired with a purple fluffy coat, and some fans speculated that her outfit hinted at a possible pregnancy.

In a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Tems addressed the rumors, expressing her confusion over why Future was the one linked to the supposed pregnancy. She jokingly questioned why other stars, like Wizkid or Drake, weren’t mentioned instead.

“Why am I pregnant for Future? Why Future? Why not Wizkid? Why not Drake?” she humorously remarked, noting that the reason people assumed Future was involved likely had to do with his well-known reputation as a ladies’ man and father of several children.

Tems also opened up about the rap artists who have inspired her career, listing legends like Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ab-Soul, Andre 3000, and J. Cole. She worked with Drake on his 2021 album Certified Lover Boy, and J. Cole was one of the few featured artists on her debut album Born In The Wild, which came out earlier this year.

Though the rumors were baseless, Tems handled the situation with humor and grace, continuing to focus on her thriving music career.
