Nigerian journalist Ajibade Owefoso, a well-known correspondent for Trust TV in Imo State, tragically passed away in his sleep. His untimely death occurred over the weekend in his Lagos apartment, leaving many shocked and saddened.

The news of his passing was confirmed by neighbors who discovered his body on the morning of Saturday, September 7. After noticing that Ajibade had not responded to several knocks on his door, the concerned neighbors decided to force the door open, only to find him lifeless.

Ajibade Owefoso is survived by his wife and three children, who reside in Imo State. His passing is a significant loss not only to his family but also to the entire journalism community in Nigeria.

Just before his death, Ajibade had recently buried his father-in-law in Imo State. The event saw support from various groups, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapter, who showed their solidarity with him during that time.

Ibrahim Shehu Adamu, the Chief Operating Officer of Trust TV, expressed deep sorrow over Ajibade’s sudden death. He described Ajibade as a passionate and dynamic reporter who brought energy and life to every story he covered.

Adamu shared, “His sudden death is a big loss to everyone at Trust TV. We will greatly miss his lively presence. Ajibade’s excellent journalism and engaging reporting made him an important part of our team. His reports made stories come alive, and his absence leaves a gap that cannot be filled. We are deeply saddened by his untimely death.”

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State also extended his condolences. He praised Ajibade as a hardworking, committed, and God-fearing journalist who carried out his duties with a strong sense of responsibility. The governor emphasized that Ajibade never compromised on the ethics of his profession, making him a respected figure in the media.

During this challenging time, the governor sent his heartfelt condolences to Ajibade’s young family and elderly mother, offering them strength and comfort.
