Primate Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has issued a stark warning to Nigeria’s government about its increasing reliance on loans from China. According to him, the long-term consequences of these loans could leave Nigeria indebted for the next 100 years.

Ayodele expressed his concerns in a statement made by his media aide, Oluwatosin Osho. He stressed that despite Nigeria’s abundance of natural resources, the government continues to turn to foreign loans to solve its financial problems. He believes that if the government focused on utilizing the country’s wealth of mineral resources, Nigeria wouldn’t need to borrow money.

He criticized the government’s inefficiency, calling it “lazy,” and said that this lack of responsibility will only further damage the economy. Primate Ayodele warned that in less than nine months, Nigeria’s debt will reach a level where both the rich and poor will suffer, resulting in economic hardship across the board.

Addressing the role of the Dangote Refinery and others like it, Ayodele explained that even having 10,000 refineries would not solve the country’s economic issues. According to him, real progress can only be achieved if the government takes concrete actions to correct its current course. He added that as long as the government remains inactive, the dollar will continue to rise, and petrol prices will stay high.

For Nigeria to move forward, Ayodele believes that the government must look inward and develop sustainable solutions that leverage the country’s own resources, instead of relying on foreign assistance. Without this change, he fears the country’s future will be tied to debt and economic instability.
