Protest Continues Over PDP Women Leader Imposition in Taraba

In Taraba, thousands of women are protesting the alleged imposition of a new Women’s Leader for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The protests began last week at Jolly Nyame Stadium after Lois Emmanuel, a former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, was reportedly imposed as the party’s Women Leader.

The demonstrators carried placards with various messages, asserting that Lois was forced upon them by certain elements within the party. They argue that Lois was not their choice for the position and have called on Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas to intervene immediately.

The protesters believe that swift action from the governor is essential to prevent further disunity and internal conflicts within the PDP. They are determined to continue their protests until the party leadership addresses their concerns.

The women stressed that timely intervention is crucial to save the party from potential collapse and to avoid losing the 2027 general election in Taraba.

In response, party spokesperson Andeta’rang Iremea stated that a statement regarding the ongoing protests will be issued soon. The protesters had previously disrupted the state Congress when Lois’s appointment as the Women Leader was announced.
