President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the need for bold reforms and hard decisions to drive Nigeria’s development during his recent visit to China. Addressing Nigerians in China, the President described the trip as a success, noting that his meetings with Chinese leaders focused on improving cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, trade, finance, and energy. He pointed out that China’s disciplined society offers a valuable model for Nigeria, stressing the need for Nigerians to embrace discipline and commitment to nation-building.
“What is most important is for you to be good citizens and represent Nigeria well. We must cherish our diversity and serve our nation diligently,” President Tinubu told the Nigerian community in Beijing. He urged Nigerians in China to work hard, respect local laws, and reflect a positive image of Nigeria.
Tinubu explained that Nigeria is undergoing significant reforms, which require making tough but necessary decisions. He pointed out that the recent rise in fuel prices was part of broader efforts to achieve sustainable development, including building better roads, improving electricity supply, and upgrading schools.
“We want our children to have access to good schools, not old, run-down buildings. To get there, we need to make hard choices today. Economic progress is driven by action, and I am focused on providing the leadership Nigeria needs,” he said.
The President also highlighted the role of the Nigerian diaspora in contributing to the country’s development, noting that the Bank of Industry is ready to collaborate with them to tap into opportunities back home.
While acknowledging the challenges of leadership, Tinubu expressed his commitment to guiding Nigeria toward a brighter future. He assured Nigerians that with a capable team behind him, the country is on the right path to achieving meaningful growth and development.
President Tinubu’s focus on discipline, tough economic reforms, and collaboration with the diaspora underscores his vision for a more developed and prosperous Nigeria.
