In another violent attack, Boko Haram terrorists struck Buni Yadi town, the headquarters of Gujba Local Government Area in Yobe State, early Thursday. This comes just days after 34 people were killed in Mafa ward, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, also by terrorists.
According to reports, the terrorists entered the town on foot and set fire to parts of the local government lodge and vehicles belonging to Annour Bread, a bread factory in the town. The insurgents targeted a vigilante camp near the lodge, but local vigilantes and special forces quickly responded, forcing the attackers to flee.
A source from the town shared that two vehicles from the bread factory were burned, as well as part of the vigilante camp. One vigilante member was injured during the clash, but the forces managed to drive off the insurgents before they could cause further damage.
Security forces had received prior intelligence about a potential infiltration, and they cleared the streets before the attack, likely preventing more significant harm. Captain Shehu Muhammad of Operation Lafiya Dole confirmed that troops successfully foiled the attack, though the terrorists did manage to damage some property.
This attack is part of a string of violent incidents in Yobe State and surrounding regions, as Boko Haram continues its campaign of terror.
