Anambra Police Officers Arrested After Alleged Killing of 24-Year-Old

In a recent and troubling development from Anambra State, Nigeria, police officers have been arrested following the alleged killing of a 24-year-old man named Ebuka. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 4, along the Onitsha/Owerri road. According to reports from human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the officers shot Ebuka, who was then rushed to the hospital but was sadly confirmed dead. His body has since been taken to the mortuary.

The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Itam, has acted decisively in response to the incident. He ordered the immediate arrest of the officers involved and a thorough investigation into the case. Preliminary findings suggest that a police corporal was among the patrol team at the time. CP Itam has directed that the investigation be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka, emphasizing the need for calm and assuring the public that justice will be pursued vigorously.

This case has sparked concern and calls for accountability, highlighting the ongoing issues of police conduct in the region. The community and human rights advocates are closely watching the developments, hoping for a fair and transparent resolution.
