The Lagos State Government has announced an extension of the work-from-home arrangement for state workers, now set to continue for an additional three months. This decision comes in response to the significant rise in petrol prices, which has placed a heavy financial burden on many residents.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved this extension, as communicated in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, on Wednesday. This move is part of the government’s efforts to reduce the impact of the fuel price hike on public sector employees.
Initially, the work-from-home policy was introduced in February, allowing workers on grade levels 01 to 14 to work remotely for two days each week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 could work from home for one day per week. This policy aimed to help workers cope with the challenges brought about by the removal of fuel subsidies.
In the latest circular, it was noted that this policy had resulted in increased productivity across various government departments and agencies. The extended work-from-home arrangement will take effect from September 4, offering continued relief to workers during this challenging period.
