Three Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Lagos After Collecting N3 Million Ransom

 In a significant breakthrough, the Lagos State Police Command successfully arrested three suspected kidnappers who allegedly extorted N3 million from the family of their victim. This development was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who provided details to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, August 28.

The incident began on Tuesday, August 27, when the Isashi Police Division received an urgent call from a concerned citizen at around 12:00 noon. The caller reported suspicious activities involving some hoodlums who had kidnapped an individual at Oke Moro, a neighborhood in the Isashi area of Lagos State. Acting swiftly on this information, the police dispatched a team to the scene.Upon arrival, the officers found a 24-year-old male victim who had been held captive by the suspects. The kidnappers had physically assaulted the young man before demanding a ransom of N2 million from his family. The victim’s mother, desperate to secure her son’s release, paid the ransom through two different bank accounts as instructed by the kidnappers. However, the ordeal did not end there; the kidnappers also forced the victim to transfer an additional N1 million from his personal bank account via mobile transfer.In addition to the money, the suspects took the victim’s three Nigerian International Passports and other valuable items, leaving the victim traumatized. Fortunately, the quick response of the police led to the arrest of the three suspects and the rescue of the victim before further harm could be done.SP Hundeyin mentioned that a preliminary investigation is already underway to gather more evidence and understand the full extent of the crime. The police are also intensifying efforts to track down other members of the gang who managed to escape during the operation.This incident highlights the ongoing challenges posed by kidnapping in Lagos and underscores the importance of community vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities. The Lagos State Police Command continues to encourage residents to provide information that could help in preventing and solving such crimes.The police have assured the public that they remain committed to bringing all those involved in this crime to justice and ensuring the safety and security of all Lagos residents.
