Badagry Monarch Takes Bold Step to Lower Food Prices

In a decisive move to tackle the high cost of food, the Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, has taken significant action by dissolving all market committees at Agbalata International Market in Badagry. This decision, announced at a recent palace meeting, is aimed at ending the interference of these committees in pricing foodstuffs.

The Akran, represented by Chief Onu Osekan, the Jengen of Badagry, stated that market committees would no longer dictate food prices or impose extra charges on sellers. This change is intended to give sellers the freedom to set prices without additional fees, which have been driving up costs for consumers.

The decision follows concerns about rising food prices and the impact of extra charges on market transactions. By dissolving the committees, the Akran hopes to make food more affordable and reduce financial pressure on both sellers and buyers.

In support of this initiative, selected palace chiefs will visit markets to communicate the new regulations and ensure compliance. This action reflects a broader effort to stabilize market conditions and emulate the successful strategies of other regional leaders.

The Akran’s bold step is expected to bring relief to many in the Badagry community by fostering a fairer and more transparent market environment.
