In early September, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will travel to China to meet with President Xi Jinping in Beijing. The visit, announced by presidential spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale, will focus on strengthening Nigeria’s relationship with China. Although the exact date of his departure hasn’t been confirmed, President Tinubu plans to hold several meetings with the Chinese President and 10 CEOs from major corporations.
During his time in China, President Tinubu will work on signing various agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting economic ties. These discussions will cover several important areas, including the green economy, blue economic development, and national planning.
Additionally, issues related to national, regional, and international security will be a key focus. There will also be talks on completing the Abuja to Ibadan section of the Lagos-Kaduna standard railway, along with discussions on technology, oil and gas, refining, and satellite technology. The overall goal of the visit is to enhance cooperation between Nigeria and China across these critical sectors.
