The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles. The decision was made official on Tuesday morning by NFF Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi.
Labbadia, born on February 8th, 1966, in Darmstadt, Germany, is a former player with two international caps for Germany’s national team. He has a wealth of coaching experience, having managed well-known teams like Hertha Berlin, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg, and Bayer Leverkusen, among others. He holds a UEFA Pro License and becomes the sixth German coach to lead the Super Eagles.
His immediate task is to guide the Super Eagles through the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The team will face Benin Republic in Uyo on September 7th and Rwanda in Kigali on September 10th. Labbadia will also lead the team in four more qualifiers scheduled for October and November.
