Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has received a significant new honor. He has been appointed as the Patron of the Ecumenical Synod of Bishops, Archbishops, and Senior Clergy Inc. (ESBAASC).
This announcement was made during ESBAASC’s international conference, which took place from August 22 to 25 at Emmanuel Park, RCCG Redemption Camp. The conference focused on the theme “Religious Tolerance in Nigeria and Across the Nations of the World,” addressing key issues related to religious harmony.
ESBAASC is a coalition of Christian leaders dedicated to fostering unity and dialogue among various Christian denominations. The event saw Pastor Adeboye being honored by Archbishop Prof. Kehinde Olubunmi, the International Prelate and Chief Host, who nominated him as Patron. Additionally, Archbishop Prof. Mary Ajisafe of Peace of God Ministry in Lagos was appointed as Matron of ESBAASC, with both nominations receiving enthusiastic approval from the attendees.
Archbishop Olubunmi highlighted the group’s efforts to enhance religious tolerance in Nigeria and collaborate with global organizations. Pastor Adeboye, who was represented by RCCG National Overseer Emeritus, Pastor Joseph Obayemi, shared reflections on his past experiences with people of different faiths. He stressed that true religious tolerance involves mutual understanding and unity among diverse cultures.
Pastor Adeboye also pointed out that much of the sectarian violence in Nigeria is politically motivated and often exacerbated during times of economic and social unrest. He urged the attendees to advocate for religious tolerance and emphasized that genuine believers should prioritize love and the preservation of life over conflict and division.
