Suspected Motorcycle Snatchers Kill Another Okada Rider in Ondo State

In a tragic incident in the Arigidi Akoko community of Ondo State, another commercial motorcyclist, known as Yakubu, was murdered by suspected motorcycle thieves. His body was found along the Arigidi Akoko/Okeagbe road on Saturday, August 24, 2024, with his throat cut and his motorcycle missing.

This is the fourth such killing in the area over the past month. The rising violence has created fear and panic among residents, particularly commercial motorcyclists and farmers, who now fear for their safety.

Local authorities, including the Amotekun Corps, were quick to respond, visiting the scene and taking Yakubu’s body to the morgue. The case has been reported to the police, who, along with the Civil Defence and Amotekun forces, have vowed to track down those responsible.

Residents and community leaders are deeply concerned about the ongoing violence. In response to these disturbing events, a group of women from the Akoko area staged a protest, demanding justice and the arrest of the killers. Community leaders from Ogbagi Akoko also held a meeting, calling for a special task force to combat the rising threat to both Okada riders and farmers.

Security forces have ramped up efforts to address the situation, with promises from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okeagbe that the perpetrators will be caught soon. However, the community remains on edge as they wait for more concrete action.
