Two police officers have been killed and three others left unconscious after an attack by members of the banned Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites. The attack happened on Sunday at Wuse Junction in Abuja.
According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Shiite group assaulted a police checkpoint with weapons, including machetes, knives, and makeshift bombs made from kerosene-filled bottles.
Following the attack, several members of the group were arrested, and the situation has since been brought under control. The Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth C. Igweh, condemned the unprovoked assault and vowed to ensure those responsible face justice.
