We are saddened to share the tragic news of the death of Paul Julius Goewam, a talented 20-year-old Nigerian footballer. Paul, from Plateau State, was involved in a fatal car accident on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, while driving on the Paralimni-Protaras road in Cyprus.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. near Pernera when Paul’s car collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction. Paul had recently joined the Cypriot club, Enosis Neon Paralimni, just three weeks prior, after transferring from Egyptian team El Gaish.
Enosis Neon Paralimni FC expressed their deep sorrow over his passing in a heartfelt statement. They praised Paul’s strength and determination, despite the challenges he faced in his life.
“It is with deep sadness that we express our condolences on the loss of Paul Julius,” the club shared. “His memory will live on in our hearts, and we stand with his family during this difficult time.”
The driver of the other car, a 74-year-old man, is currently being treated in the hospital. Fortunately, his condition is stable, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward as investigations continue.
