Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor in Edo State, has issued a serious threat to Adams Oshiomhole, a lawmaker from Edo North. Ighodalo has given Oshiomhole a seven-day ultimatum to retract statements he made about Ighodalo during an Arise TV interview, or face legal action.
In the interview, Oshiomhole described Ighodalo as “unelectable” and criticized his suitability for the governor’s role, claiming he lacks the qualities needed to serve the people of Edo. Even after being warned by the show’s moderators, Oshiomhole continued his critical remarks, which Ighodalo believes were harmful to his reputation.
Ighodalo’s legal team, led by Ayo Asala (SAN) & Associates, has demanded that Oshiomhole issue both a public and private apology, which must be published in Vanguard and ThisDay Newspapers. If Oshiomhole does not comply, Ighodalo is prepared to file a ₦20 billion lawsuit for damages.
