Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mom, is close to finalizing her divorce from her second husband, Richard Lawson. The couple had been separated for over a year, with Tina, 70, recently informing the court that she has shared a complete list of her income, expenses, and assets with Richard, who is 77. This financial exchange is a necessary step before the divorce can be finalized. However, Richard has yet to submit his financial information.

Tina filed for divorce in July 2023 after eight years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She also requested that neither party receives spousal support and asked to legally change her last name back to Knowles.

The couple married in 2015 on a yacht in Newport Beach, California, with a star-studded guest list, including Tina’s daughters Beyoncé and Solange, Jay-Z, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson. Tina expressed her happiness at finding love again at 61, calling the day magical.

Before Richard, Tina was married to Mathew Knowles, Beyoncé and Solange’s father, for 30 years before they divorced in 2011.
